The first videographer supported channel?
March 30, 2007
As you have probably heard, Verizon rolled out their FiOS TV service to quite a few markets nationwide. This deployment is a fiber to the home (FTTH) solution meant to provide TV service that competes with cable companies.
I happen to be a happy FiOS subscriber and closely follow any new developments..
Well, they recently announced FiOS1 – a new local information channel.. Here is a more in-depth summary provided by Paul Kapustka at NewTeeVee
What stands out in his overview is the following quote “from “trained” citizen video journalists Verizon has drafted and will send out into the streets with videocams, ready to film”
This is just the beginning.. while it sounds like they will only have 10 videographers on staff initially, as they expand to new markets they will certainly want to extend their network of “trained” videographers that provide content..
